Project Highlights
Product Management - Decision Support Analytics
This project for the payer business group within a large eHealth company focused on a 360 degree analysis and future strategy development for two major health information technology (HIT) product and service areas. The project involved a significant assessment effort, including the following:
- Extensive surveys of clients, industry experts and competitors.
- Review of market and industry information, and competitive intelligence.
- Technical performance data for each product and service area.
The final analyses and findings were utilized by senior management to plan future business line and product strategies.
Marketing and Communications Support - Health Information Exchange Developer
This project for a leading HIT developer capitalized on Ms. Kasim’s extensive knowledge of the technology, management and business issues related to regional health information organizations (RHIOs) and community-wide health information exchange. The project work required this comprehensive knowledge base and project management expertise to complete the following task areas:
- Bi-weekly e-newsletters discussing key industry issues and news directly related to the company’s services, products and client base.
- Development of web seminar content.
- Creation of a new corporate communications messaging platform for the health information exchange business unit.
- Revision of technical and business proposal “boiler plate” content.
- Development of media relations strategies and plans; targeted dissemination of press releases; high level media training for management.
The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) (U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services)
We continue to support AHRQ’s Office of Communications and Knowledge Transfer (OCKT) under a subcontract to MasiMax, Inc. Included in this effort:
- Development of marketing and communications strategies, plans and project suggestions for the recently created Health Information Technology Resource Center (HITRC).
- Subject matter consultation on information technology (IT)-related topics, particularly in the areas of decision support, disease management, patient safety, quality of care and regional health information organizations (RHIOs).
- Dissemination and promotion of agency information and announcements to select media, associations and other health-related groups.

Business Development Support to State Healthcare Group
We recently collaborated with another consulting group to provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) services on a long-term project for a Fortune 100 technology company. The project directly involved the business unit working with state healthcare and Medicaid programs. Services included comprehensive research, analysis and executive-level reporting of the following:
- Critical industry IT and policy trends, including advances in state Medicaid disease management programs.
- Pending federal legislation and budget decisions and the potential impact on the company’s business.
- Competitors’ market position, industry perceptions, and communication messages.
Optimum Public Relations
We worked with the local office of this international agency in support of an international eHealth company. Deliverables included:
- A white paper on the state of eBusiness in the health insurance industry in both commercial and government sectors.
- Development of key marketing and communications plan, including a central messaging platform for the company and products.
- Drafts of senior executive bylined articles.
- A database of key industry media and analyst contacts.
VIPS, Inc. (a WebMD/Emdeon company)
This project supported the marketing department of a healthcare business intelligence software vendor on a variety of projects. Included in the long-term project scope:
- Research and development of a comprehensive market intelligence report discussing key managed care, IT and disease management program trends, and recommendations on future product positioning.
- Creation and management of 11 informational web seminars, designed to promote ViPS as an industry ‘thought leader’, support product positioning and generate greater interest in the company’s products and related services.
- Support of the media relations effort, including the creation of media kit materials, management of a contact list and media outreach (resulting in the placement of two major articles).
Collaboration with Creative Strategy, Inc. (supporting McKesson)
We provided subject marketing and communications services to this creative marketing agency. Responsibilities included ongoing project management and magazine content development. The client was the payor solutions group of a Fortune 500 healthcare company. Project details included:
- Creation and production of content for a semi-annual client magazine.
- Recruitment and management of three freelance healthcare writers.
- Edits to copy for magazine content.
